Fewer unsolved cases
Enteropathies are complex diseases. Knowing and fighting the dysbiosis that generally accompanies enteropathy is a new therapeutic possibility that arises from microbiome research. The course to the custom and precision FMT is plotted.
Less antibiotics
The effectiveness of antibiotics to treat enteropathies is linked to the effect on intestinal pathogens. But they kill also good bacteria and leaves a mess. FMT has the potential to replace antibiotics in fighting pathogens and positively affect the antibiotic resistance problem.

Why we do this
Bruno (on the cover) is a half-breed foundling dog belonging to one of the EuBiome partners.
When he was five years old he fell ill with chronic enteropathy. A long journey begun in search of solutions to her monthly bouts of diarrhea and vomiting. After years of never-ending attempts (the term chronic enteropathy is not used for nothing), Bruno underwent a fecal microbiome transplant and now is doing well. We exist because others like him can benefit from the same opportunity.
We are aware that FMT is only in its infancy today, that attempts are being made and that the outcomes are difficult to predict. But the results are there! Over 80% of owners say they have seen benefits after the fecal transplant. But it is necessary to continue the research, to understand why it sometimes works and sometimes it doesn't, to understand what and how much material to administer, and when. Partial, temporary results and failures also occur also with the standard protocols used in these cases: special diets, probiotics, antibiotics, cortisone and immunosuppressants. The risks of FMT have been extensively evaluated in humans, and the most frequent phrase found in the literature is "FMT is safe". Even in veterinary literature, the general opinion is the same. Risks are considered irrelevant compared to the benefits that can be obtained, and dogs and cats are often coprophages. Further proof is the fact that there are over 400 clinical trial.
The Pet FMT Project was born with the aim of aggregating people passionate of dogs, cats and microbiome, to accelerate the development of knowledge on FMT, to help to transform successful cases into clinical protocols, and to offer a therapeutic option to 30 million of dogs and cats suffering from chronic enteropathy in Europe.
